Description of program
IT (Information Technology) is a program that prepares students for jobs in the computer field, handling such things as the installation, repair, maintenance and management of computers and network systems. In addition to the IT courses offered, there are two Computer Science courses that enhance computational thinking and problem solving skills.

Coursework and descriptions
Information Technology Fundamentals — Students are introduced to the knowledge base and technical skills needed for information technology careers. Computer basics, hardware and software installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and networking basics skills are learned.
Computer Maintenance and Troubleshooting — Students are exposed to computer hardware, computer operating systems, network architecture, network protocols, technology career opportunities and network design and security.
Network Fundamentals — Students explore the processes of networking basics, networking designs, systems and security.
Programming Foundations – Students will be exposed to the Alabama Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DLCS) standards using a variety of unplugged strategies, as well as block-based and text-based programming languages.
AP Computer Science Principles – Students learn to design and evaluate solutions and to apply computer science to solve problems through the development of algorithms and programs. Students can take the AP Computer Science Principles exam at the end of this course.
